Me too....

Here are some more pictures from our September adventures. We are enjoying the change of season and squeezing in as much sun and outside time as possible. One of our neighbors has a trampolene and that has become the favorite activity around here. Dylan chases all the kids around saying "me too, me too" and trying to do everything they do. We have been on several hikes in the area and Colter gathered tons of leaves and made a book for Aunt Bonnie and Mimi. He doesn't want them to miss out on all the pretty colors, he doesn't think Texas has pretty leaves. Dylan did his first hike on the Jurassic Trail where he hiked "up momban, BIG momban" (mountain) all by himself. So exciting. Blues and Brews was a rainy, muddy mess with great music. Not our favorite festival weather, but a nice weekend none the less.

I look a bit scared of something, but it is still a cute pic. Nana, I think I have your eyebrows. We were rained out at Blues and Brews so we took the kids to the Cantina and had some margs and nachos while a zydeco band played. In the pic is Tim and Colin O'byrne and their friends Jenny and Donny. The kids loved them and had a great time all weekend.

Super cute Coltler face! Both boys learning the tricks of the trade-- they will be making balloon animals all winter.

Little brother watching soccer practice. Colter and Jaden doing the three legged race at Eli's birthday party.

The 5 yr old Blast off Rocket party was a huge success!

Dylan on his favorite "boo" bike. Colter after soccer practice, such a big boy.

Dylan and Daddy watching the "choo choo" at camp. Dylan was so excitecd each time the train came by, he would run to the shore yelling "see, CHOO CHOO" They are so cute when they sleep!

Birthdays, rockets and rafting....

Trevor's birthday celebration on the Upper Colorado River. Colter resting on our "lunch rock" in the middle of the river and then rowing the boat with Daddy.

Dylan likes to row the boat with Daddy, "me too, me too"

Dylan shooting his water gun and saying "shoot" in case anyone couldn't figure out what he was up to.

These last few weeks have been fun-filled, happy and non-stop. First up was Trevor's birthday and we spent the weekend on the section of river he started out his guiding career on so many years ago. We ran into long lost friends that we had not seen in about 12 yeara and did an over night camp out with all of them and their kiddos. Pleasant surprise and a very nice time on the river.
Dylan and Colter are growing and changing everyday. Dylan is so full of words, stories and funny little ramblings and Colter is his best translator. Dylan now says multiple word sentences like "Daddy deer died." (it's hunting season and he and Pappy spent some quality time getting hunting things ready last weekend) and "Night Night Colter, Night Night Mommy...." he likes that song as much as Colter did. "Orange bubble love" Both boys love to send God's blessings to people by shooting balloons of colors and emotions with pretend guns. Nothing like boys versions of prayers and meditation! Colter's special blessings gun has a keyboard so that he can type out the person's name on the bubble before he shoots it, that way it can get the person--even all the way across the 'world AND space, it works that far Mom" Dylan loves to eat and does so every chance he gets. It is probably because he doesn't stop moving all day long- as long as his eyes are open he is in motion. Colter was a busy guy at this age as well, so I'm used to this level of activity. I hear from others that not all kids are as "active" as mine. Hmmm...quiet project time, not at this house! I love it though and as Colter said today "Mom, I have too much energy. I need to get rid of some of it outside, maybe on my bike so I can have a nice bedtime later" Think he has heard that before? Soccer started a few weeks ago, Colter loves to go and play around and they are all so cute. More outdoor fun at the park.
Colter woke me up on the morning of his birthday at 6:30 am with "Wake up lazy bones, you have a cake to bake!" He continues to be grown up, unpredictably funny. He loved his Blast Off rocket party and is loving being 5. I can't believe my baby is 5! We had things exploding and shooting all over the neighborhood-- it was somewhat controlled chaos. We had a home made rocketship cake, balloon rockets, firecrackers, bottle/cork rockets. Every Mom in the neighborhood went home and hid the baking soda, lemon juice, Tums and vinegar so that all of the little scientists would not cause any damage indoors! He likes to remind me everyday of all the things he can do now that he couldn't do when he was just 4 or 3. He loves to wear his "fancy shirts', especially now that he can do the buttons, with his running pants. Still have to be practical, I suppose. Colter likes his new pet fish and was very sad when the first two died. Tough lessons to learn, but he says "It's Ok Mom, these first fish have to get the tank in shape, we'll get some more and they will do good" Very mature on the matters of life and death, too bad guppies have a short life span in the best conditions! He still dreams of moving to Mexico or somewhere warm and of the motorhome he and I are planning on travelling in. He loves Telluride and the mountains, I think he already has the same travel bug that I do and wants to do it all! It continues to morph and by the time we can afford to do it, it will be a perfectly defined picture in his mind. I love his curiosity and adaptability to new plans and situations.
Trevor and I had a wonderful weekend raft trip down Westwater Canyon. Modee and Pappy had a busy weekend with the boys! It was our first trip without the boys since Dylan was born and although I missed them lots, it was fabulous! We relaxed and floated with a group of good friends, the rapids were fun and splashy, sleeping on the ground under the stars was spectacular and sitting doing nothing at camp, except for a nice hike, was priceless. Truly a great weekend and the boys did good on their "Modee and Pappy Vacation", so maybe we can do it again someday???
Having issues loading more birthday pics. I will have to try later.
