Happy Birthday Dylan!

I can't believe it has been a year since Dylan joined our family. He is definately a toddler now, not that he ever really liked being a baby anyway. Dylan had a day of smiles, friends and family-it was a great birthday. Colter and I decided we would have an all day party. We decorated with Pirate props, baked cupcakes and muffins, dyed icing and our skin to decorate all the goodies, and enjoyed all of our guests. Colter didn't like the fact that Dylan was opening presents and not sharing his new toys His favorite new toy is a ride on top four wheeler that makes lots of motor noise. All of our neighbors and other friends joined us after work for a quick drink, Pirate hat crafts and cupcakes before dinner- yikes. The rest of the family showed up for dinner and then Eli and Colter had a sleepover. It was a busy night of jumping, singing and dancing. Pics: 1. our little climber made it up on top of the table and then signed for "more food" 2. practicing walking with the famous smile 3. birthday crown and balloons 4. cupcakes and Pirate hats- Life is Good! 5. Lilly Pumpkin said "wow, he is so smart. I have never seen a one year old that knows how to eat a cupcake!"

On the move

Ok, I thought I would try a different style here--just to mix things up. We are so crazy busy around here and summer is slipping away so quickly! Monsoon season is here and the thunder rolls every afternoon. Dylan is the master of repetition and is slowly and very happily learning to walk around. He is so proud of himself and giggles with every step. Colter is going crazy on his two wheeler and preparing for his big Motorcycle Bike race birthday party. He would like to move his birthday to July instead of September. Speaking of birthdays---Little D is almost 1! I can't believe it. This year has been a roller coaster of activity and emotion. Not quite as full on intense as last year, but still very educational and challenging. All week, I have been thinking back to what we did last year at this time and one theme keeps coming to mind, I am so glad Dylan is here happy and healthy oh yeah, and I'm glad that I'm not pregnant three years in a row!

Uh oh, peek-a-boo and doggies

Wow, coming back from vacation can really take it out of ya! We have been non-stop busy since we got home. What have we done? Well, July 4th was a beautiful day of parades, fire trucks, family and friends in the park and fireworks. We went to a Touch a Truck fundraiser and Colter played in a fire truck, police car, race car, construction vehicles of all sorts, it is still the topic of conversation. If any of you ever need a fundraiser idea--use this one! We have been all over San Miguel County house and land hunting for my parents. We think we have it all together, we'll see in the next week or so. We have been swimming several times, Colter is so confident now that he has his fish floatie that Aunt Bonnie gave him in Bonaire. Dylan is a water baby and has no issues going under water. I just wish he wouldn't dive off the steps into it when I'm helping Colter! We went rafting on Hanging Flume, a section of the San Miguel, yesterday and had a great adventure. The boys loved it, as always, and Dylan decided to continue his walking lessons on the boat. He can kind of take a couple of steps before he face plants into something, usually me or Colter. He is a stair climbing machine and loves repetition. We are really starting to see him interact and show his personality. The new words of the week are Dada- actually used correctly- and UH OH. Boy is that ever a favorite, almost as popular as Mama, Mama, Mama! Colter tells everyone that he taught his baby to say UH OH and then tries to get Dylan to say it. Pretty funny. Colter is helping me teach Dylan sign language and so far we have "more", "fan", "food" ,"dog" and "peek-a-boo" Oh yeah, Colter, or Batman, Fire Chief, SuperColter, Dragon, is still insanely creative, imaginative and funny, he comes up something new for us everyday. The other night it was, "Good night Colter" " Wait Mom, I have to talk to God" "OK" "Hello God, Um, How did you make tigers?"..."Hey Mom, when is he going to answer me, He's rude!" "Well, honey, sometimes he answers you in your sleep, try it and see" "Ok...wait he's talking to me....He said "mix it in a mixing bowl" huh that's cool"
It is endless and I only hope I can remember those moments when he is using his skills against me!
