Another amazing summer of fun
Next update, take two. I wrote out all the captions for this, I have to say it was pretty good, and then poof....lost in cyberspace.
So these first few cutie pics were taken in Modee and Pappy's front yard after Dylan's preschool graduation. The boys look so grown up!
We moved out of our Mountain Village house in mid April, did some travelling, couch surfing and exploring and then moved into a sweet little log cabin down valley. We spent a couple of weeks at Modee and Pappy's where we hiked, swam and discovered fun things around Ouray. Cascade Falls is a great place to throw rocks in the river, climb and sit in the sun.
Colter hiked the entire Jud Wiebe loop trail with me in June. He is a great hiker and explorer. The hike takes about twice as long as when I do it alone because he is so observant, curious and detailed with everything he sees. We also stayed in town for a few weeks and enjoyed biking around town, going to the skate park every night and all the little luxuries we miss about being townies.
The boys love feeding the fish from their kayaks up at Rob and Sheila's. I love the sweet moments where Colter is showing Dylan something new or teaching him a new little tidbit.
Thank you again Trommers! We spent another wonderful few days at their orchard during apricot and cherry harvest. The kids have such a great time every time we go there. Rosemerry and I were wondering if it was possible to have too many pictures of the kids eating cherries.....obviously not. This was our last big trip to visit them at the orchard since they sold it later in the summer. Good thing they are only five minutes away for playdates! Their kids are Finn and Vivian for those wondering.
Next up, the Rio Chama in New Mexico. This was a new section of river for us and we loved it. We went with The Smeins crew and the only thing we will change next time is that we will take 3 or 4 days instead of 2.
Hot springs grasshopper rescues and so much more. We have decided to try out sleeping in hammocks and it worked great. Trevor and I are hoping to get back to extended backpacking trips with the kiddos and we need to lighten the load to make it possible. This will be a great option! Colter paddled duckies, kayaked and rafted on this trip.
Dylan and Brook are so funny, we will all be in trouble 10 years from now!
This was the maiden voyage for my new vessel. I love my SUP and can't wait for more trips. It makes class 2 water exciting!
Even Trevor gave it a try.
OK, next up......the rest of the summer!
