Lacrosse and Lake Powell, April/May 2013

Both boys decided to play lacrosse for the first time this year. They loved it! As with all outdoor, warm weather sports in the mountains, the season is short and rather intense. For a few weeks they practiced and then we had three weekends of back to back to back tournaments in Grand Junction, Edwards and Carbondale. Lots of travel for these little guys.

Dylan was the littlest player out there, but it didn't phase him at all. He got right in there with the big boys and played hard every game.

Each town had a great skate park, so in between games (sometimes 3 a day!!!) we would head over and the boys would skate, scooter and bike.

Carbondale had the best skate park! After hanging out here , Daddy and the boys decided that they want to go on a road trip where we visit skate parks in every town.

This is one of Colter's (in the red helmet) highlights of the season! He  scooped  up the ball, ran down the field and passed it off and yes he did get whacked on the helmet just after this was taken for a nice penalty.

It is a lacrosse thing to attack the goalie at the end of the game,  Not sure if it is just our team or if everyone in the sport does it, but it is funny to watch.

Dylan loved getting in on the face offs. He is going to be a force in a year or two.

Lake Powell 2013!
Again the Blakney clan was granted permission by the house boat gods to laugh, climb, splash, kayak, boat, SUP, wrestle, fish, slide, swim, eat and play all over the lake. The kids were so fired up for this year and were not disappointed. I will let the pictures do most of the work here. I will ID everyone once with their current age for kiddos, just for reference.

Noah's first fish of the trip.

The biggest helping the littlest, so sweet. Colter and Grace are good buddies.

Uncle Trevor-Daddy was the wresting master, although I think his time is short lived. The boys will be able to take him in no time!

And Trevor's reward for wrestling was a massage, not bad.

We love sleeping on the top deck, as many as 8 of us were up there each night.

Colter kept his pet lizard in his hat and wore it on his head so that his little friend wouldn't be scared and run away.

The 2013 Lake Powell Line up is Gideon-6 , Dylan-5, Grace-2, Noah-4, Colter-8, Eli-8 and this is as nice and calm as it ever got.

This is more accurate!

Trevor, Colter, Eli, Sheila and I hiked up to the Defiance House ruins. It is pretty well preserved and restored. The boys were able to climb in and around some of the structures. We even managed to learn a few things along the way.

Crazy balloon dance party! Static electricity lesson, check.

Rob still likes a good practical joke, luckily Sheila still thinks he is funny!

Modee's annual slide and scream. She did have to do it twice because I missed the first round, he he he.

I love these kiddos! It is nice to have a family that you don't mind, some might even say enjoy:), spending time with! I have endless good memories of hanging out with my cousins when we were young and I hope that our kids will look back on their childhood with the same fondness for family fun. Thanks to Modee and Pappy for making this second annual Lake Powell adventure possible.
