4th of July and beyond........

Dylan was showing Mimi his "running up the slide" skill. He still loves to wear his motorcycle outfit at least once or twice a week. We had a wonderful visit with Mimi and we are so glad that the deck had to be redone up at the cabin so that she could stay with us for almost  two weeks!

Both boys competed in their first trail run, The Rundola, which took place early on the 4th of July. They ran all the way up Kids Hill with lots of their friends (Loudon is with them in the picture on the left).

Ahh...small town fun. The cousins decided to be in the parade together and decorated their bikes to ride down main street with Trevor. Colter and Dylan went for the crazy hair day and Colter had an amazing blue mohawk. Dylan, who still loves orange above all other colors, went against the red, white and blue trend and had a very nice punk rock spike thing going on. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed watching the parade with Rob's crew including Sheila's parents, sister and kiddos, Mimi, Tim and Tracye, and Modee and Pappy. We went to the park for a bar-b-q after and the boys played at the skate park.
Of course the only time we are all together for a family pic-----my kids have colored spiky hair. Oh well, that sums up a good holiday in Telluride!

The fireworks here always amaze me. Each BOOM echoes off the canyon walls and they are so close overhead that you can't fit them into your field of vision. The kids have to wear ear plugs! This year was no exception. I love the fireworks mode on my camera, makes for some fun shots.

We went camping outside of Crested Butte last weekend on this lovely little lake. The boys fished, played in the forest and explored the area.

I am still a sucker for a nice reflection shot.

Yeah, those are bugs. I call them No-see-ums, Colter calls them "can't see ums" Either way, they were thick enough to see at this camp and he decided to see how many he could squish with his hands at one time. He also discovered that if he put sunscreen on his hands that he could catch alot more.
This is one of those moments when you realize how small you are and how grand nature is.

Trevor and the boys have been selling and buying things this summer. They went on a boys weekend to Grand Junction and found this little  4 wheeler for the boys. Colter is pretty excited and they all went on a very long ride at around camp. Dylan can't wait until he can touch the shifter and drive by himself.

I love this picture. Colter and Finn were playing sprinkler tag and I love that they were having so much fun and laughing so hard that they could barely run! The boys and I went to visit our friends at their orchard outside of Delta. It is a beautiful place on the Gunnison river and we had a great time.
One of Finn's favorite words right now is mischievous. Um, yeah.....these two had it figured out. They have been friends since they were born and enjoy each other's energy and company.

It was dinosaur week at their house, so we went exploring for dinosaur bones in the area. We found caves, pictographs, spiders, grass hoppers and many potential dinosaur dig sites. We were chased out of the canyon by a HUGE rainstorm. It is way more fun to run in the rain when it is warm and we enjoyed ourselves the entire time!

"Mom, I have never got to pick mine own cherries, this is the first time and it is my favorite!" Dylan had cherry stained face and hands for the rest of the day. It was very yummy.

Next up was a day in Rabbit Valley and at the dinosaur museum in Fruita. This time we founds lots of dinosaur bones, grasshoppers and spiders. It is a great loop hike and the boys could stay there for days.

And we are only half way through the month. The monsoon rains came a bit early this year, so we have been thinking of sunnier locations to visit. Today was sunny and we spent a great day wondering around town. Colter also did a week long karate camp and loved it. He broke a board with a kick at the end of the week. I have that video on my phone, we'll see if I can figure out how to post it.  Next up is Dylan's birthday party.
